What is the Cosmedix Blueberry Smoothie Peel?
Cosmedix is the brand that makes the Blueberry Smoothie Peel. The blueberry smoothie peel is a peel for sensitive skin, or skin new to peels. It contains L-lactic acid, which is a kinder acid than glycolic, but both work in similar ways. It also contains blueberries, jojoba beads and blue corn meal.
What can it do for my skin?
The peel acts as a chemical exfoliant and a manual scrub in one, the treatment will soften rough, uneven skin for a balanced complexion and dramatically smoother texture. This peel would suit anyone with dull, lackluster skin, and mild-moderate acne. As this peel contains L-lactic acid, it is great for sensitive, dry and reactive skin. If you are a beginner to peels I'd definitely start at this one, as glycolic acid which is commonly used in a lot of peels, has a smaller molecular structure which can penetrate deeper into the skin in return causing irritation.
My experience with the Cosmedix Blueberry Smoothie Peel?
I had my treatment performed at Skin Clinic Blyss by the wonderful Jodie King. Jodie King is the Founder/Director of Skin Clinic Blyss and a Dermal Clinician. Jodie has over 20 years of experience so I knew I was going to be in good hands, and get some great advice on my skin and skin concerns. Once jodie had assessed my skin (full assessment) she recommended that the Blueberry Smoothie Peel would be the best for my skin due to the dryness, redness and sensitivity of my skin.
The treatment uses all Cosmedix products, except for the SPF at the end, which I will specify. Jodie starts off by removing my makeup and SPF that I came into the clinic wearing, with product Benefit Clean , this product was used twice to ensure all traces of makeup were removed. Once my skin was cleansed Jodie then toned my skin using Purity Balance to ensure all excess oils were removed, especially down my t-zone. The Blueberry Smoothie Peel was then applied to my face, and throughly massage into the skin. The peel is a chemical and manual exfoliant, so it needs to be worked to the skin. Then a mask is applied to my skin which is left on the skin for 10 minutes, to really work deep into the skin at unclogging and resurfacing, this was using the product Pure Enzymes. After 10 minutes the mask was washed off my face, and I was now going under the LED red light for 20 minutes. The Red light easily penetrates the skin, boosts circulation and brings more blood and nutrients to the area. It also stimulates vital collagen and elastin production. Collagen helps plump the skin, while elastin firms the skin. The red light is energising and repairs damaged cells, by stimulating the collagen and elastin you are giving your skin the youthful look again. Once the 20 minutes are over your treatment is almost done, just need a SPF now which Jodie applied Aspect Hydra Shield SPF 15+ as I had my treatment mid day. Now you can leave the clinic glowing, hydrated and alive again. Over the next few days my skin was smooth, vibrant and so soft that I didn't even need to apply foundation for the next few days.
Overall I'm a huge fan of the Blueberry Smoothie Peel, it requires no downtime, and you see results instantly, so you can go out straight afterwards with a youthful glow. The picture below is immediately after I had my peel. Plus at the bottom will be links and details of the clinic I visited for my treatment.
